FLeye™

O'WONDER FLeye Hands Free Camera (2004)

FLeye Hands Free Camera
Designed by O’WONDER in 2004

Key features include:

  • Ultra compact ‘eyeball’ camera module that clips onto your glasses or your ear
  • Built in storage
  • Easy to reach hybrid touch screen/tactile Bluetooth wrist controller.
  • Wired or wireless tethering to an optional live monitor and battery pack

WAYSTATION™

O'WONDER WAYSTATION™

WayStation terminal configured for the London Underground (2004)

Features an intelligent ‘web’ cam for video calls with contacts or station staff, a 17″ location aware touch screen, an Oyster card reader, credit/debit card reader, laser projected keyboard, a “don’t forget your things” audio alert alarmed shelf for resting mobile phone and/or other items the user puts down while using the keyboard, tough transparent side panels with built in NXT flat speakers and noise cancelling technology.

Today (2010), mobile devices render the need for public information terminals obsolete, however, like call boxes (pay phones), WayStations could be useful for those unable to access mobile devices or in the event of a wireless network failure.

LIFERECORDER™

Designed in 2004, the LIFERECORDER is a conceptual modular ultra high resolution video and stills camera.

O'WONDER LIFERECORDER™ IN ACTION

The two part wirelessly linked lens and control grip components enable the lens to be held in previously impossible positions, with the live view displayed on the grip LCD.
Tactile and haptic controls enable a user experience that blends old fashioned analog control dial photography with a contemporary touch sensitive (laptop trackpad like) zoom control down either side of the lens body, with another on the top. Touching the displays above the dials and touch areas toggles their function. To zoom, simply drag a finger or hand back and forth along the lens body. (All functions would be replicated on the trigger grip.)

UPDATE: 2011
The advent of touch screen equipped smart phones and other wireless gadgets now means that the need for a modular camera is diminished. A wireless equipped lens (like the LIFERECORDER lens module shown) could be controlled and used as a remote live/playback view with such devices.
