LIST MAKER
Lists

Allows the creation of an unlimited number of searchable lists. For example:

Any one or more lists can be programmed to appear on specific dates, days and/or times. For example, you may want your Christmas Menu to appear in December and your Sunday Menu to only appear (surprise) every Sunday!

NOTE

To gain maximum benefit from the List Maker you are encouraged to devote a little time to understanding its operation.

1. To create a new list

  1. Click [+] in area 3 to display the Item Maker menu
  2. Select List
  3. In the Title field, enter the wording you would like at the top of your list, for example, "PRICE LIST", "WINE LIST", "MENU", "CHRISTMAS MENU" etc. Capital letters are recommended for effect, but the choice is yours.
  4. The Filename field is for entering your own internal name that will not be displayed on your list. For example, "Joe's 2007 Wine List"
  5. Click [OK] to create a new blank list.

2. Relax with Auto Save*

Like most modules, information entered into List Maker is saved to our servers each time you move the pointer out of a text input field so you need not worry about losing information in the event of difficulties with your computer or browser. *Requires Javascript to be turned ON in your browser.

3. Components of a list

4. Creating a new item

New items are inserted below the currently selected line. Items are selected by clicking the radio button on the left of each line.

Menu No Price

If you wish to create an item without a price, such as the Massalla item shown above on a scan of a printed restaurant menu, simply leave the Price field blank when typing or importing the menu into List Maker

5. Adding a more detailed description below an item

  1. Click the [+ i] button to the right of the item name field
  2. A multi-line text field will appear below. Text entered here will appear below the item name when your list is published.
  3. If you click [- i] again, the description field will vanish (collapse) and the information will not be shown when people view your list. However, the description will be retained if you should decide to display it in the future.

6. Converting an item name into a heading

  1. Select the item using its radio button ( )
  2. Click the [< Heading] button

7. Converting a heading back into an item

  1. Select the heading using its radio button ( )
  2. Click the [> Item] button

WARNING!

If an item with some description text attached is converted to a heading, the description will be lost if you then convert the heading back into an item.

8. Re-ordering items and headings

If Javascript is switched ON within you browser then a drag icon Drag Me! will appear to the right of each line. Simply drag the appropriate line to its new position. If Javascript is turned OFF use the radio button to select the line you wish to move and then click the [Up] or [Down] buttons that appear to the right of the [<Heading] [>Item] controls.

9. Switching columns on and off

The checkboxes at the top of the page allow you to hide the Price, QTY and Ref columns from within the List Maker. This does not effect their appearance when the list has been published.

10. Item numbering ON/OFF

The automatic item numbering control can be found below the Publish heading in area 7. Once you have switched off numbering, click the [Publish] button (area 2) to ensure the item numbers do not appear on your list when it is viewed. NOTE: Although numbers will no longer appear on your list after it has been published, for convenience, item numbers will still appear within the List Maker in light grey.

11. Programming lists to appear on specific dates

This feature is only available if you have created more than one list.

Programmed lists will be the first to appear when a visitor clicks the List icon or link on your profile. Your other lists will be available from a pop up menu within the top list. For example, if you have a HOLIDAY MENU, a DAILY MENU and a WINE LIST and program the HOLIDAY MENU to appear for a specific period every year, your DAILY MENU and WINE LIST will still be accessible. Remember, you can edit your lists at any time, even after they have been programmed.

  1. In area 6, select one of your lists until you see the [Set display time] button appear in area 7 below the Filename field.
  2. Click the [Set display time] button. The Event Maker panel will appear.
  3. At the top of the panel, click the Active checkbox to ON. That will ensure any settings you make below are actually applied.
  4. To help you learn how to program your list(s), below are a few example scenarios and required Event Maker panel control settings shown in red.
  5. Once you have completed programming for your selected list, click the [OK] button at the base of the panel.
  6. A text summary of your settings will appear below the [Set display time] button.
