Import up to 20 images for display on your profile.

WARNING: Towards the end of 2008, the gonumber image library will be restricted to one image. In early 2009, any additional images already uploaded to gonumber.com will be erased from your account. This is because there are now several 3rd party services that allow almost unlimited storage of images and other content. Best of all, these can be linked to from your gonumber profile.

Here is what you should do - as soon as possible:

  1. Select a 3rd party image storage service. O'WONDER highly recommends Google® Picasa web albums.
  2. If you no longer have your images stored on your own computer, then to download them from your gonumber account, it is best to view them at maximum size and save them to your hard drive (or removabe media) as follows:
    1. View your gonumber profile (IE, www.gonumber.com/g, where g is your gonumber iD)
    2. Click the default preview image
    3. Now click the medium sized version of the image to view it at maximum size
    4. Position the pointer over the image and perform a right mouse click (or equivalent)
    5. Select 'Save image as...' (or similar) from the pop up menu and save to your drive.
  3. Upload your images to your chosen service following the instructions provided by that service.
  4. Set the permissions to public - that is, anyone can view them. (You can of course restrict access to images you do not want the public to see - such personal images or those you are archiving.)
  5. Obtain the URL (web addres) for the image library in the service you have just uploaded your images to.
  6. Login to your gonumber.com account.
  7. Select Contact Details.
  8. Using the pop up menu in area 7, select Web address and click the [+] button.
  9. In the left field, paste in the URL for the external image gallery.
  10. In the right field, type in a description, such as 'Photos of our restaurant'

Preparing your images for import into gonumber.com

Note: As per the above warning, very soon (late 2008), you will only be able to upload one image to your gonumber account.

  1. With more people using wide screen displays, images are displayed on your gonumber profile in the popular 16:9 aspect ratio. Although some recent digital cameras offer the facility to take wide screen photos, most do not. Therefore if your images are not already in that format you will be prompted to crop them during the import process. When taking photographis destined for your gonumber account, ensure important subjects fall within a rectangle whose sides have a ratio of 16:9, like that shown in the white area of Fig 1, below.
  2. Each image must be no wider than 1280 pixels and no narrower than 500 pixels. For best results, you should always take your photos at the highest resolution available on your camera or camera phone and then reduce the photos to 1280 pixels across using an image editor such as Photoshop®.

Aspect Ratio

Fig 1 - The outer rectangle represents a regular 4:3 aspect ratio image, while the inner area is at the 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio supported by the gonumber image library
